Matinicus Island Oceanfront Cottages

Our two cottages are set on the rocks just as close to the ocean as possible. Both have picture windows across their entire lengths so the ocean view is with you at all times. The settings are separate and private and each is a one minute walk from a quiet, sandy beach.

Rentals are by the week. Houses each have fully equipped kitchens, three bedrooms and indoor bathrooms with showers and laundry facilities. You provide towels, linens and food. Everything else, including blankets, pillows, appliances (including washing machines) cookware, is provided for you. Coffee drinkers note: makers use basket style filters.

Norris' Cottage

Named for builder Capt. Norris Young, Norris' is a cozy, classic Maine Coast cottage with 3 bedrooms, full of memorabilia and a bit rustic. It's special features include an oceanside deck looking out to open ocean, and a master bedroom wing, sunny with a full ocean view (what a place to wake up!).

The three large picture windows of the main room also face out to sea. The master is furnished with queen bed and the two bedrooms with twin sets. Pillows and blankets furnished. You bring your own linens and towels. Supplementing the very comfortable indoor shower is an outdoor shower (with a great view) useful for when children return from the beach. The indoor toilet is an electric incinerating toilet that requires adult supervision. There is also a fully functional outhouse for guests who prefer a system with no moving parts. All utility costs are included, but you may have to call for a new propane tank (366-3695) should you run out of gas.

The house is otherwise fully furnished. The deck right off the kitchen is a good place to sit, gather for meals, and enjoy the sun and view.

July and August: $1500/week
Long Weekends: $400 before 6/15 and after 9/15
The size, quality and location of these accomodations can't be matched at their prices anywhere on the Maine Coast.

Kohls Cottage

Kohls is the big place with all the modern conveniences, big lawn area, large seaside decks and beach view. It is large (40' X 28') with three bedrooms, a home directly on the water with a broad 180 degree ocean view. The house is fully insulated for three season use. It's big enough for two families to share. It will sleep 8-10 people. This house is located closest to the beach. The setting is very private. Fully furnished except for your bed linens and towels, it has hot showers indoors and outdoors, indoor toilet facilities, washer and dryer, and an equipped kitchen. Utilities at our expense, yet should the propane run out you will order for more at 366-3695.

The bedroom has one queen, twin beds in others. A double foam sleep pull out sofa is in the living room, also a futon bed. There is a large lawn area right on the ocean. There is an ocean view from the master bedroom windows.

On the beach side, in complete privacy is a large outdoor deck with built in seating facing the ocean and sunset. Kohls is spacious, airy, and comfy, with as good a view as you can hope for.

RATES: Weekly $550 weekly beginning Saturdays. Single night rates are $90 with a 3-night minimum. Payment is in advance by check or credit card.

Weekly rentals begin Saturdays at 12:00 p.m. and end the following Saturday. One week's rent is required in advance to reserve. A balance is due 30 days prior to your stay. Kindly send the form below, or a letter containing the same information for our files.
