Getting There

Travel to the island can be half the fun!

You will head out to Matinicus by air or sea leaving from Rockland, Maine. Rockland is 1 hr. 40 mins from Portland and is served by Cape Air and Concord Coach Bus Line.

Overnight On The Mainland

If you arrive early in Rockland, we suggest staying at the Trade Winds Motor Lodge  207-596-6661 on the harbor and near the airport. (see link www.tradewindsmaine.com email: twmi@midcoast.com)
or across the street from the ferry terminal at the Navigator Inn. (see link www.navigatorinn.com)

Parking Your Car

There is long term (paid) parking for your vehicle at either the state ferry terminal or at the Knox County airport.
Ferry travelers should arrive at least one hour early to secure parking in the busy state parking lot.

Transportation on the Island

Ann's Mermaid Taxi on Matinicus Island 207 366 3161 will pick you up at the boat, the airstrip and is available for other rides around the island. Call her!

Many of our visitors bring their bikes. We'd love to provide them with the houses, but the salt air makes for a maintenance nightmare. The boat services and the plane service can carry bikes.
