Provisions

Most returning guests arrange to bring most of their provisions, use Shaw's FAX line and add lobster, fresh bread, and treats from island services.

The island can supply all the lobster you can handle -- it's caught right in front of your house! A reliable source for lobster year round, delivered, is 366-3980. During summer season, student islanders generally offer to your door delivery of lobsters caught by their parents. Signs will be posted. Crab is often available, ususally for free!

An island baker, Eva Murray 366-3695 offers a full line of breads and blueberry pies delivered.Want to know more? Sample baked goods available.

Produce is sometimes scantily available on island during July and August, from the home garden near the airport. Don't assume anything will definitely be in stock -- this is island living. Bring along provisions including some drinking water for your group.

Raspberries and blueberries are free for the picking.

FAX Grocery Service
SHAW'S Supermarket in Rockland, 207-594-8615 has an island grocery service. This is an excellent source of groceries.You can order anything from them. Just fax in your order by 10:00 a.m. at 207 594-9553 and they will box it and send it out on the plane, which will call you before they fly out. FAX machine is provided for you in both houses. The island residents use this service as reliably as we would drive to Shaws.

MEDICAL

Pen-Bay Medical Center in Rockport 207-596-8000 is the local hospital. Matinicus has a local EMT chapter for emergency service to/from the hospital.
